Libertarian State Leadership Alliance
Online Technologies Standardization Special Committee
Objective:
The Libertarian State Leadership Alliance (LSLA) formed the Online Technologies Standardization Committee (OTS) to identify, evaluate and select standardized solutions for online technologies to serve the emerging needs of the Libertarian Party (LP) and its Affiliates. The technologies will include, but are not limited to; content management system (CMS) and customer relationship Management (CRM) platform(s) and tools. The OTS committee members will present the recommended solutions to the LSLA. The OTS will also present to the Libertarian National Committee (LNC).
Background:
Most LP Affiliates work independently of each other and there is no standard way to share the membership data amongst them. A vast number of technologies are used to achieve similar goals and Affiliates differ from state to state as well as counties within state Affiliates. In the past there have been efforts to standardize technologies used but never formalized.
Technologies:
The OTS Co-Chairs have defined a set of basic guidelines in order to select the technology combinations for evaluation:
- Ability to own and/or have full rights to code such as an open source platform
- Web-based platform
- Widespread community support of the technologies
- Low startup and maintenance costs
The OTS Committee will review and evaluate the following technology combinations:
- CRM and CMS Combinations:
- CiviCRM
- Integrated with Joomla!
- Integrated with Drupal
- vTiger
- Joomla
- Drupal
- WordPress
- SugarCRM
- Joomla
- Drupal
- WordPress
Membership:
The Committee is co-chaired by Jillian A. Mack of Ohio and Brett H. Pojunis of Nevada. The OTS Committee will be comprised of up to 7 (seven) appointed voting members of the Libertarian Party (LP). In addition, there will be non-voting recognized technical experts representing a wide spectrum of technical expertise in online and Internet technologies.
Voting:
The technologies which receive the majority approval will be presented to the LSLA and the LNC. Two technologies will be determined by the Co-Chairs and then voted upon by the OTS Committee.
