LSLA IT Committee

LSLA Special Committee for Information Technology

Memorandum of Understanding

The LSLA Officers have created the LSLA Special Committee for Information Technology (LSLA IT Committee) to work with State chairs and other LP members to define the scope of the technology to be developed and then implemented as a National technology solution on a voluntary basis.

Objective: The objective of this LSLA IT Committee is to implement a National technology solution using the technologies recommended by the Online Technology Standardization Committee (OTS); Joomla! for the Content Management System (CMS) and CiviCRM as the Client Relationship Management (CRM) tool. This technology solution will serve the state and local affiliates and their candidates for public office.

Purposes: The members of this committee, of which there are to be no more than eleven, are tasked with the following purposes:

  • To arrange and deploy a Nationally distributed CMS-CRM Platform recommended by this Special Committee for Online Technologies Standardization (“Platform”);
  • To specify a set of data file and transmission formats to be used in the creation, storage, manipulation, import/export, and exchange of information on the Platform;
  • To work with the State chairs and other LP Members to compile detailed requirements (including, without limitation, functionality, design, acceptable usage, service level agreements, and disaster recovery) and to draft a Technical Specifications (Tech Spec) document for the Platform;
  • To identify, prioritize, plan, and produce in like manner as above enhancements to the Platform that are considered desirable;
  • To make arrangements for training all users of the Platform;
  • To make other recommendations regarding the selection and use of technology throughout the Libertarian Party and its affiliates.

Membership Overview: This committee has a large role and is subject to an aggressive set of deadlines. State party leaders across the country have high expectations and are depending on the members of this committee to act effectively and diligently.

Service on this committee may not be what you are accustomed to. This is a working committee and its requirements are demanding. It is not for those who expect to simply attend meetings and pontificate. You are expected to proactively volunteer to take on tasks and not wait to be asked. Members shall submit reports of their progress by email at least 48 hours in advance of each meeting.

As a member of this committee, you agree to serve with the above understanding. You also acknowledge that if LSLA Officers or fellow members of the committee believe your efforts are not sufficiently contributing to the successful planning and implementation of this project, you will promptly be removed from the committee by the LSLA Officers.

Meetings: Electronic meetings are tentatively scheduled for the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6:00 pm Pacific Time, but members should expect that the Chair will likely call for additional, more frequent meetings to stay on target. Failure is not an option.
